VBDR MEETING MARCH 22-24, 2012

The Veterans Advisory Board on ( radiation ) Dose Reconstruction
( V.B.D.R. ) will be holding their annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas
on March 22, 23 & 24, 2012. The event will be held at the Riverwalk
Embasy Suites Hotel ( 210-226-9000 ).

The Hotel address is: 125 E. Houston St. – San Antonio, Tx. 78205 ( on
the banks of the San Antonio River ) and is within walking distance of a
host of attractions, excellent resturants & entertainment.

In accordance with the ( Congressional ) mandate governing board
member qualifications, one member must be an Atomic-Veteran, and
must also be a member-in-good-standing of a ( nationally ) recognised
Atomic-Veteran organization.

The first ( Atomic-Vet ) board member was Col. George “Ed” Taylor
( FL. ), who is now experiencing serious health issues, and therefore
cannot actively participate in V.B.D.R. activities.

The current ( Atomic-Vet ) board member is ( N.A.A.V. ) Nat. Cdr. R. J.
Ritter, who has participated in all V.B.D.R. events, since the Board’s
( 2005 ) formation.

N.A.A.V. is extending an invitation to all Atomic-Veterans, or surviving
widows of deceased Atomic-Veterans, to attend the “public comment”
session of the V.B.D.R. meetings, which will be held on the early
afternoon of Friday – March 23rd.

N.A.A.V. will also hold an informal re-union fellowship gathering, in the
V.B.D.R. meeting room on Saturday morning ( March 24th. ) from 0900
to 1200.

Also present, at our fellowship gathering, will be V.B.D.R. members,
representatives from the Defenset Threat Reduction Agency ( D.T.R.A. ),
the Nuclear Test Personnel Review ( N.T.P.R. ), and the Department of
Veterans Affairs ( D.V.A. ) radiation claims processing center ( Jackson,
MS. ).

This will offer the opportunity for Atomic-Vet’s and family members to

interact with the folks who are actively involved in the processing of
radiation health issue claims, and who are also striving to get proper
benefits to qualified Atomic-Vet’s & survivors, as quickly as possible.

We encourage all Atomic-Vets from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and
other nearby areas, who may be able to travel comfortably, to attend
this important function. All N.A.A.V. Directors & Officers will be present
at this event.

And I also look forward to visiting with you at this event

R. J. Ritter
